Diagnosis and management of Connective Tissue Diseases and Vasculitis.

Including Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Sjogren’s Syndrome, Systemic Sclerosis and Myositis, Temporal Arteritis and ANCA Vasculitis.

Dr Parker is highly experienced at diagnosing these conditions and offers initial review, second opinions and long -term management at Spire Manchester.
In his NHS practice Dr Parker runs a large regional referral service for patients with complex CTDs and vasculitis, and his academic interests lie in the assessment and outcome of lupus in particular.
These conditions present unique challenges for rheumatologists in both their diagnosis and management due to their complex nature and overlapping symptoms. Diagnosis requires clinical expertise, thorough history taking and detailed testing of the immune system. Access to sophisticated imaging techniques such as MRI, PET scan and tissue biopsy can all be required. The long-term management of these conditions often requires drugs that suppress the immune system such as steroids, methotrexate and azathioprine. These require close monitoring and supervision in conjunction with your general practitioner and these treatments are routinely offered by Rheumatology Manchester at Spire
